Client standards

The work we decline, every time.

We screen every prospective client before a scoping call. Some requests we turn down. These are the lines.

We decline

  • Any work for or with Chinese companies, the Chinese government or entities they control
  • Any client or counterparty on Canadian, UN, US OFAC or UK sanctions lists, or owned or controlled by a listed party
  • Work for foreign governments or state controlled entities that would involve influencing Canadian political or governmental processes
  • Surveillance, tracking or profiling of private individuals
  • Targeting journalists, activists, dissidents or diaspora communities
  • Opposition research or disinformation campaigns
  • Anything requiring illegal collection, pretexting, hacking or bribery
  • Field work where we cannot meet our own duty of care standard

How we screen

PRE-SCREENRed lines, ownership, sanctions lists and adverse media, before any call.
BEFORE CONTRACTLegal identity, ownership, signatory, end user and the purpose of the work.
DURING THE WORKRetainer clients are re-screened periodically and whenever ownership changes.

We may decline or stop work that becomes unlawful, unsafe or conflicts with these standards.
